Manufacturers to Ohio: Jobs are Coming
Ohio is soon to benefit from new job-creating investments by a number of major manufacturers. The Dayton Business Journal reports that companies including General Motors, Navistar International and Whirlpool have announced projects that will add to the 885,539 manufacturing jobs the Buckeye State currently boasts.
Ohio is soon to benefit from new, job-creating investments by a number of major manufacturers. The Dayton Business Journal reports that companies including General Motors, Navistar International and Whirlpool have announced projects that will add to the 885,539 manufacturing jobs the Buckeye State currently boasts.
"All of these companies have long histories in the state, but have been ratcheting up efforts," the Journal notes.
The specific investments cited include:
- $1 billion by Fiat Chrysler in two plants;
- $1 billion by GM, which has a number of plants in the state;
- $42.5 million, leading to 478 new jobs, by Tenneco Automotive at its Kettering facility; and
- $40 million by Whirlpool Corp in its Findlay faculities, hard on the heels of an earlier $40 million investment in its Greenville plant.
