Simonds Saw has introduced a bandsaw blade designed to provide low vibration and high efficiency cutting of steel grating applications. The new BITEC PLUS blade, manufactured by Simonds' partner WESPA in Germany, features a wide band in a variety of widths from 1.25" to 2.0", which provides maximum beam strength for higher blade tension and cutting rates, making it less susceptible to damage.

Unlike conventional wide-band blades, the new Simonds blade offers a fine tooth pitch of 5-8 teeth per inch (tpi) which is ideal for grating applications, delivering increased productivity, much quieter cutting and longer blade life. The WESPA Product Development Team in Germany is also working to introduce a coated version of this blade for even higher performance.

"One of our territory managers worked closely with a steel grating manufacturer and Simonds to develop a highly effective solution for sawing grating," commented Dale Petts, Global Product Manager at Simonds. "Simonds designed a wide band blade with a fine tooth pitch specifically for grating applications to provide a highly efficient cutting solution."
