The Hurco VMX42i is equipped with UltiMotion, a patented motion control system invented by Hurco. This technology reduces cycle time up to 30 percent while providing superb surface finish quality, according to the company. UltiMotion uses advanced software algorithms for motion planning instead of conventional hardware, which means it optimizes look-ahead, up to 10,000 blocks.

The Hurco VMX42i has X/Y/Z travels of 42/24/24 inches and X/Y/Z rapids of 1,378/1,378/1,181 per minute. The Hurco VMX42i is built to last and to retain accuracy with larger linear rails that are strategically spaced and mounted to a machined shoulder for increased rigidity. Additionally, the linear rails are wedge-locked to the frame to reduce vibration instead of the faster, cheaper facemilled process. The double-nut, pretensioned ballscrews are anchored at both ends to increase accuracy and rigidity.

The Hurco integrated control is optimized for the advanced toolpaths generated by CAM systems with a 64-GB solid state drive, 2 GB of memory, a 2-GHz dual-core Intel processor, and processing speed over 3,000 bps.
