Ingersoll Cutting Tools has extended the application range of its Gold-Twist drilling line by introducing a flat-face geometry tip for flat bottom machining, in a diameter range of 8.00mm to 25.5mm (0.312" to 1.012").

The new line reduces the number of tools required to generate a flat-bottomhole from two or three to a single tool, greatly reducing cycle time. The new geometry produces excellent chip breaking and high-precision flat surfaces, according to the company. These new tips are fully compatible with the Gold-Twist's current line of bodies in the same size.

Inserts are available in grade IN2505 PVD multi-layered coating providing high wear resistance, chipping resistance and prolonged tool life.
