Comco Inc. offers the latest advances in Shot peening technology with our new precision shot peening equipment for demanding production or job shop environments.
Shot peening is a cold working process that is used on metal parts to impart a compressive residual stress to increase fatigue life. Most cracks will not initiate or grow in a highly compressively stressed zone. This is especially useful for parts that are under constant stresses such as aerospace, automotive, medical implants and gears.
Eliminate or significantly reduce masking requirements for the shot peening process by blasting through small, accurate nozzles and precisely locating the nozzle with respect to the part. This ensures all of the media hits the part, that the media is not worn through inefficiency and reduces the systems air consumption.
Using a highly controlled delivery method for closed-loop peening with all shot materials with selection of pressure and flow, it allows complete optimization of intensity and coverage. Other features include; the ability to peen with two shot sizes simultaneously (Example: ID peen S70/OD peen S230), ID peening down to .125", storage of three different sizes of media ready for use, up to five parts can be peened simultaneously and the ability to peen with all media types (ferrous and non-ferrous).
Comco's shot reclamation systems include screen classification to remove oversized and undersized shot to maintain tight control over the sizing of the peening media. Spiral separators deliver only the spherical shot to the peening nozzles, ensuring a high degree of consistency in your shot peening process.
