Seco Tools Inc. has announced the availability of its new range of Liteline fine boring heads and holders. They have a high strength-to-weight ratio for faster tool changes and quicker spindle acceleration, according to the company. The light weight enables companies to perform boring operations in applications where steel assemblies are too heavy for the toolchanger and spindle. The Liteline boring heads are made from high-tensile aluminum, but with a steel connection shank that enhances rigidity. The insert holder is supported by the head's body to eliminate risk of deflection. They are prebalanced to allow for spindle speeds up to 8,000 rpm. Cutting forces do not affect the head's micrometric setting, making Liteline boring heads suitable for interrupted cuts and imparting a fine surface finish. The Liteline range is composed of four light radial boring heads with a range of extensions, reducers, adapters and arbors.
