At IMTS 2024, Speedgrip Chuck demonstrated its leadership in advancing workholding technology with the launch of four new products designed to streamline operations and boost productivity. Known for its legacy in secondary operation chucks, mandrels and pallets, the company has expanded its portfolio with quickchange and intelligent workholding solutions aimed at meeting the demands of modern manufacturing.
Speedgrip Chuck’s latest offerings reflect its focus on enhancing efficiency and adaptability. With a history rooted in delivering high-performance solutions, the company has ventured into new territories, such as threejaw chucks, while integrating advanced automation features. These innovations are set to address the evolving needs of manufacturers, particularly in reducing downtime and enabling faster transitions between jobs.
Quick-Change Three-Jaw Chuck
One of Speedgrip’s innovations is its quickchange three-jaw chuck, which supports multiple standard jaw types, including Kitagawa serrated and tongue-and-groove styles. The chuck features dual base jaws, allowing operators to adjust diameters offline while the machine is running. This capability significantly reduces setup times and minimizes machine downtime.
The chuck also accommodates mono-block jaws, which eliminate interference from mounting holes, enabling closer applications to the chuck face. Additionally, the chuck’s lever- style design includes counterweights that increase clamping force under centrifugal rotation, ensuring reliable performance even at high speeds.
NDS Mandrel (No Draw Screw)
Speedgrip’s NDS mandrel eliminates the need for traditional front draw bolts, a common wear item. Using a bayonet-style connection, the mandrel ensures precise ID clamping while minimizing maintenance requirements. Its machinable work stop is prepped for air sensing, providing enhanced accuracy and reducing setup complexity.
