Drake Manufacturing Services Co. LLC is sold

Drake Manufacturing Services Co. LLCDrake Manufacturing Services Co. LLC, Warren, Ohio, has been sold in a court-ordered receivership. Following a 3-month receivership, a federal judge issued an order to approve the sale of the assets of Drake Manufacturing Services and its affiliated companies to Drake Manufacturing Acquisition LLC, Warren, which is owned by CW North America Inc., Northville, Mich. A strategic partnership between Drake Manufacturing Services and CW Bearing Group, a global bearing manufacturer, will allow Drake Manufacturing Services to continually serve customers wherever they are located.

Founded in 1972 by John Drake, Drake Manufacturing Services has designed, built and serviced CNC manufacturing systems. Drake will continue to operate at its current location, and there are plans to bring back all employees who recently were laid off. Further investment will be made in human-machine interfaces and automation development.

John Lirong Hu, president and CEO of CW Bearing USA Inc., Northville, and sole owner of CW North America, will be president and lead the board of directors. Jeff Beyerlein, chief engineer at CW Bearing USA, will be interim general manager. Stig Mowatt-Larssen, who has been with Drake Manufacturing Services for over 30 years, will continue as chief technology officer leading R&D engineering. Michael Hughes will continue as chief applications engineer leading startup and process engineering.
