With a focus on motorsports part production, Mazak is hosting its Discover More with Mazak Open House at the company’s Dallas Technical Center from March 11-12 in Dallas.
Attendees will experience the speed and precision of Mazak’s Variaxis i-700T 5-axis Machining Center, the QT-Ez 12MY Horizontal Turning Center, the Integrex j-200S NEO Multi-Tasking Machine, and the brand-new Syncrex 38/9 Swiss-type Turning Machine.
“Dallas and the surrounding areas are home to some of the nation’s top manufacturers, supporting a variety of industries,” said Don Miller, Regional General Manager with Mazak.
“These shops stay competitive only when they incorporate the latest, most advanced and productive machine tool and automation systems. Like all our Discover More with Mazak regional events, we bring those technologies to them for easy accessibility coupled with applications support that will ensure their success.”

At the event, attendees will experience how the Mazak Variaxis i-700T 5-axis Machining Center delivers high-speed, simultaneous 5-axis milling and turning capabilities in a single, integrated platform. The machine allows shops to process complex multi-surface parts from raw material to finished part with Done In One capability that reduces setups and shortens lead times.
Designed for versatility and productivity, the Variaxis i-700T features a compact, high-speed spindle with speeds up to 18,000 rpm and a large travel envelope to accommodate a wide range of small- to mid-sized motorsports parts. Its rigid tilting rotary table provides part feature accessibility for 5-axis milling and turning functions to minimize setup errors and maintain accuracy.
Mazak’s QT-Ez 12MY’s 3,300 rpm, 22 kW (30 hp) spindle features a 12″ (304.8 mm) chuck and allows for a 3″ (76.2) diameter maximum bar work capacity. The machine handles workpieces up to 14″ (355.6 mm) in diameter and as long as 19″ (482.6 mm) while also providing 12-tool turret storage capacity.
Like all QT-Ez Series machines, the QT-Ez 12MY features a powerful integral motor headstock, Hybrid MX roller guideways, and pre-tensioned ball screws supported at both ends for reliable, thermally stable, and precise machine axis movement. The machine features a bed casting design that provides enhanced rigidity as well as streamlined chip flow to eliminate chip accumulation. Its rigid bed casting with optimized chip flow design supports continuous automated operation with minimal operator intervention.
To quickly and easily program the QT-Ez 12MY, Mazak’s Mazatrol SmoothEz CNC is equipped with dual 800 MHz processors, 512 MB of RAM, a 15″ capacitive touch screen, and a full keyboard.
The control allows for both G-Code and Mazatrol conversational programming. Its Mazatrol Twins function enables the use of Solid Mazatrol, Virtual Machining, and Cutting Adviser through Smooth Cam Ai and centralized storage and file management through Smooth Project Manager.
For high-volume production of small, precise motorsports parts, the SYNCREX 38/9 Swiss-Type Turning Machine is built on Mazak’s High Damping Composite Casting (HDCC). The high-rigidity base provides greater vibration-damping characteristics, less thermal growth, longer tool life, and greater part surface capabilities than cast-iron base machines.
