Sandvik Coromant presenting 'The Cutting Edge of Connectivity' at IMTS 2024

Cutting tool maker and advanced machining solutions provider Sandvik Coromant will deliver a presentation offering insights on sensor-enabled tooling and the future of manufacturing at the upcoming International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago.

The educational session, titled “The Cutting Edge of Connectivity: How 'Sensorized' Tooling is Driving Manufacturing into the Future," will be led by Jeff Rizzie, Sandvik Coromant, Strategic Key Account Manager.

With more than 43 years of industry experience in metal cutting, machine tool integration, and Industry 4.0 technologies, Rizzie combines his extensive manufacturing background with his knowledge of advanced digital technologies to help customers drive greater efficiency and productivity in their operations.

The discussion, held in room W192-C on Monday, Sept. 9, from 3:15-4:10 p.m., will explore the latest advancements in sensor-equipped tools and best practices for making the most of data. The presentation will also cover:

  • Data connectivity options to integrate tool sensor data with wider factory systems/networks
  • Using sensor data to optimize machining parameters like speeds, feeds and depths of cut
  • How "sensorized" tooling data and insights can drive productivity improvements
  • How investing in sensorized tooling can achieve long-term cost savings and efficiency gains across manufacturing processes.
