Midwest Industrial Tool Grinding Inc. (MITGI), Hutchinson, Minn., has been awarded a 2014 Image Award, one of eleven Manufacturing Awards presented by Minnesota Business Magazine. A first time finalist for the award, MITGI was honored for its efforts to improve the industry's image and for promoting careers in manufacturing.

"Manufacturing is growing and thriving in Minnesota, and we're pleased to help promote and represent the best that our industry has to offer," said Eric Lipke, MITGI general manager. "We believe that by helping students and parents to better understand the opportunities that exist for good paying, rewarding careers in manufacturing, we're helping to pave the way for a new era in manufacturing."

MITGI manufactures and markets standard and custom cutting tools. Through participation in advisory boards, scholarships, paid internships, on-site tours and classroom visits, MITGI strives to inspire students to explore careers in the industry.

"The owners at MITGI recognize schools as community assets, and we are proud to help serve and support them," Lipke said. "When students consider career paths that utilize their skills in math and interest in technology, such as those found in modern-day manufacturing facilities, our local community thrives."
