Kurt MaxLock Multiaxis Vises
Five-axis machining varies from very small to extremely large and requires the right workholding to obtain optimal machining results and no single workholding option solves all needs, reports Kurt Manufacturing. Part complexity and size requirements coupled with machine capabilities and limitations dictate what workholding works best. To meet these challenges, Kurt has expanded its 5-axis workholding to include 15 different options to provide the solution that reportedly offers a cost-effective platform, high clamping force, high productivity and reduced downtime.

VariTap
Manufacturers, especially job shops, know better than most the pressures of ever-increasing customer demands and the equally demanding requirements to control costs. Multi-purpose tools have been one method many shops use to bridge the gap — excellent in certain materials and "good enough" in others to get the job done. Field tests are confirming the WIDIA VariTap delivers the best of both worlds: superior tapping performance in multiple work materials without sacrificing part quality or tool life.

C-Series Collets and Collet Stops
Hardinge Inc. began production of collets in the 1890s for use on bench lathes making parts for the watchmaking and lens industries. It is believed that the "C" designation for their first 5C collets came from the name of the Cataract waterfalls that could be viewed from the factory grounds of the Hardinge Brothers Co. in Chicago, where they manufactured precision Cataract bench lathes. Incredibly, the Hardinge C-series design has not changed since the early use in the 1890s, even in light of the rapidly changing technology in machine tool design.
