West Ohio Tool Co. says its PCD tools have been proven to reduce costs, setup times and changeovers while maintaining the tight tolerances required in today's manufacturing operations. Several of the new cross-center tip drills continue to run in high-silicon aluminum with over 700,000 hits, showing no sign of wear, and the helical diamond-veined endmills have logged in excess of 10,000 linear inches trimming composite materials.

MAPAL has expanded its program of narrow-contour HTC (High-Torque Chuck) clamping chucks, whose narrow shapes are produced without a restrictive brazed joint thanks to additive manufacturing. These new chucks can directly clamp diameters of 3, 4 and 5 mm, also allowing hydraulic clamping chucks to be used on the microscale, for example in medical technology or the timepiece and jewelry industry.

GMauvaisUSA has introduced three new lines of microdrills designed specifically for the electronics connector industries. The 3200 series 3-flute long reamer-drills, 3100 series short cross drills and 1100 series half-round gundrills are all in solid carbide and in a wide range of standard microsize ranges.

Hassay Savage – Magafor has introduced a new line of short, NC spot drills specifically designed for use in Swiss-style machining centers. Made from M2 HSS, they are designed with shorter overall lengths that are well-suited for use with all Swiss-style machines.

Manufactured at its facility in Cleveland, Melin Tool launches a wide range of styles and sizes of carbide microscale endmills that target applications found in mold shops, medical component and instrument manufacturers, and EDM departments. Welding or soldering without heat seemed like a good idea to Hanchen Huang, professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston. He and his students dreamed of a better way to stick things together such as a computer's CPU to a printed circuit board, or the glass and metal filament in a lightbulb, according to a recent news@Northeastern post.

EcoLine cutting fluid from Cortec Corp. retains its integrity after numerous freezing and thawing cycles, according to stability tests conducted at the company's laboratory. The fluid was tested for reduction in product effectiveness and observed for changes in thickness and odor, as well as other abnormalities.

CECOR heavy-duty carts can be fitted with frames that allow users to dump loads from a forklift or hook hoist. The frame is secured to the cart with trunnion pins, which can be adjusted to accommodate loads that range from light and bulky to heavy and dense.

The Haas Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) system delivers a steady flow of compressed air and a small quantity of cutting oil directly to the cutting tool or tap, which reduces heat, removes chips and provides lubrication, according to the Haas Automation Inc. website, which features a video report looking at the key features and benefits of MQL.
