With the TENDO E compact, SCHUNK says it has started a new era in tool clamping with this universal toolholder that is suitable for applications such as milling, drilling, and reaming. Makino introduces SGI.5, its latest version of Super Geometric Intelligence software for high-feed rate, tight-tolerance machining of complex 3D contoured shapes. Depending upon the specific geometry of the application, SGI.5 can provide 20 to 60 percent faster cycle times while maintaining accuracy and surface finishes.

Beyond her research, Creamer herself is worthy of attention in this era of concern about manufacturing jobs going unfilled because of a lack of interested or qualified candidates. She's female—still an underrepresented group in manufacturing—and she's chosen to go into manufacturing by way of Missouri S&T.
