New technology has enabled F.O. Select to easily achieve greater quality, efficiency and durability of cutting tools.

For applications where stock aluminum, stainless steel or PVDF won't work, other material options such as CPVC or glass filled PEEK thermoplastic have been used. Special marking requirements for tying knives to specific machines or critical processes can be accommodated. Unique shapes and profiles, such as double sided or curved Air Knives, can also be the solution to certain specialized processes.

The WCE platform includes four-flute, square-end and ball nose end mills with both straight and Weldon shanks and is available in both metric and inch dimensions. The DMH drill head geometry is designed to protect drill corners and provide effective chip evacuation, making the drill head suited for applications that involve drilling holes through thin plates. The increased cutting edge strength resists thin-plate snapback and wear from exit burrs, preventing drill edges from fracture damage during machining for minimum machine downtime. The strong cutting edge also makes the DMH drill head suitable for drilling extremely hard metals.

To prevent insert waste and easily detect wear, the gold-colored TiN outer layer of the Dragonskin multilayer CVD Ti(C,N)/Al2O3/TiN coating acts as an indicator. It not only enables users to clearly identify insert wear and index before a breakage, but also prevents sharp cutting edges from going unused and the insert being inadvertently discarded. Plus, a mechanical post-coating treatment produces beneficial residual stress in the coating that results in increased process security, especially important in the large-volume production situations typically associated with turning ISO-P steels.

NS chipbreaker features a three-dimensional chipbreaker that is directly engraved on the PCD tip using the latest technology. This allows the generation of short chips during the machining of gummy metals such as aluminum and copper alloys, significantly reducing machine downtime due to chip associated troubles.
