Shorter cycle times are key for manufacturers to remain competitive and profitable.

Tungaloy unveils TungBoreMini, a multifunctional drilling and turning tool line. TungBoreMini unifies the capabilities of drilling, OD and ID turning tools, allowing significant time saving when changing tools and better utilization of the machine.

Walter has added PCD grooving inserts to its Walter Cut GX grooving system, the innovative tool technology for grooving and parting off. These new geometries, straight edge (F1) and full radius (M1) excel at grooving in aluminum and titanium alloys, bringing high cutting speed, longer tool life and fine surface quality to grooving, parting and recessing operations.

Kennametal's five-flute, high-velocity aluminum roughing solid-carbide endmill — the KOR 5 — is said to increase table feed rates up to 66% compared to commonly used three-flute tools.

Along with the Tritan-Drill Steel, which is the tool of choice for the highest cost-effectiveness even in difficult drilling situations, MAPAL has developed new tools for special applications with clear added value for the user.

Walter has introduced single-sided indexable inserts with new HU5 geometry. These HU5 inserts can dramatically boost productivity particularly in rough machining of stainless steels and heat-resistant superalloys and secondarily in steel. They are typically used in machining AISI 316 material, Inconel 718 and titanium.
