Kennametal's latest weapon in the war on chatter is one that will have machinists everywhere saying, "I need that." The new boring system boasts the most effective antichatter mechanism ever developed by Kennametal, and also offers an extensive range of indexable heads and shank sizes.

The new EDGE2 DSS system from DAPRA Corp. was engineered to deliver both premium 90° milling performance and indexable milling value. Double-sided DSS inserts provide four usable cutting edges to significantly lower cost-per-edge versus single-sided inserts, and DAPRA's permanent automatic cutter replacement program makes it easier for shops to keep good-condition tools in use rather than making do with worn-out cutters.

Optimizing Dormer Pramet's brands to make your selection process easier is a top priority as the toolmaker continues its cutting tool expansion. The company is focusing the strong Precision Twist Drill brand on what it has become globally recognized for the outstanding range of drills. The solid-carbide endmills within the Precision Twist Drill brand will be transitioned to the Dormer brand.

The Dormer Force M assortment of drills provide a high level of productivity specifically for drilling stainless steel (or ISO-M) materials while operating consistently across a diverse variety of machines and conditions. This makes them suitable for high production, general engineering and subcontract environments.

The Pramet T8010 is suitable for continuous precision threading of steels, stainless steel, cast iron and superalloys. It further extends our assortment in this application area and supports the universal grade T8030.

The inch version of the popular Helical AD for roughing applications is now available. Offering a DOC up to 3.150", the cutters are suitable for use with the Pramet range of versatile ADMX 16 inserts and support medium machining of most engineering materials, including cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum alloys and superalloys.

Cutting tool and tooling systems specialist Sandvik Coromant is launching GC4330 and GC4340, two new insert grades for steel milling. With the development of advanced production technologies, such as a new substrate, Inveio coating and an improved post-treatment technology, the new grades provide great opportunities to substantially increase tool life and process security compared to the previous generation of grades, GC4230 and GC4240, which will now be superseded.

The OLFA XH-AL is designed with a cushioned rubber grip on a chemical-resistant handle for long lasting use. It features a stainless steel blade channel that extends the full length of the knife to support heavy-duty cutting for industrial materials such as gaskets, flexible conduit, belt synthetics, rope, laminates, plastics, fiberglass and rubber.

Screw unions on thin walled materials require complex additional operations like e.g. the welding on of a nut. The so called flow drilling process can form the thread directly in the arising passage, thereby making this additional operation unnecessary. Suhner and Flowdrill are collaborating in this field of specialized technology. Thermal flow drilling uses a Flowdrill tool to produce passages several times the thickness of the thin walled material.

Sandvik Coromant is releasing two series of ceramic endmills for optimized performance in nickel-based alloys. The latest brazed ceramic CoroMill 316 and ceramic CoroMill Plura endmills offer a more productive method for roughing in ISO S materials compared to standard carbide milling cutters.
