Guhring has just introduced a new drill family to the U.S.: the RT 100 XF. A new proprietary carbide grade, developed by Guhring specifically for the RT 100 XF, demonstrates the wear resistance to meet the demanding requirements of high-production machining and the durability to survive in less rigid machining conditions.

A cost-effective option for large-diameter drilling, the Dormer Hydra program supports structural and general engineering applications. The range of solid-carbide heads – for steel, stainless steel and cast iron – are married together with a high-speed steel body.

Certain processes and high-performance drills are especially important for guaranteeing reliability and high quality in deep-hole drilling. Tool manufacturer Inovatools supports the metalworking industry in mold and tool construction, in the automotive and supply sectors and in the aerospace industry, for example, with efficient cutting solutions for deep drilling. The new, universal VHM-Deepmax deep-hole drills (15xD to 30xD) completely replace the previous Inovatools range for deep-hole drilling and guarantee effective guidance, fast and reliable removal of chips, a long service life for the tool, and ultimately first-class hole quality even at greater drilling depths thanks to a whole host of design benefits.

Tungaloy unveils TungBoreMini, a multifunctional drilling and turning tool line. TungBoreMini unifies the capabilities of drilling, OD and ID turning tools, allowing significant time saving when changing tools and better utilization of the machine.

During drilling from solid in steel, the focus is on quality, time and cost-effectiveness. And these topics are therefore also in the foreground during the development of new tools. Along with the Tritan-Drill Steel, which is the tool of choice for the highest cost-effectiveness even in difficult drilling situations, MAPAL has developed new tools for special applications with clear added value for the user.

Kennametal introduced another high-performance cutting tool, the B21*SGL solid-carbide drill with through-coolant. Designed for stainless steel, nickel and cobalt-based alloys, the B21*SGL with patented point geometry and monolayer PVD AlTiN coating, delivers improved productivity and longer tool life for aerospace and energy applications requiring predictable, high-production drilling.

A drill, a milling cutter, an ultimate machining strategy with perfectly tuned parameters; this is needed, when machining medical screws made from titanium or stainless steels. Mikron Tool developed a turnkey solution, which simultaneously does the machining of hex lobular bone screws (better known as Torx) 50% faster, guaranteeing also a high degree of precision of the profile and achieving nearly burr-free results.

Milwaukee Tool continues to enhance their line of twist-drilling accessories with the next generation of its Red Helix cobalt drill bits. Engineered for extreme durability and longer life in hard metal applications, these new bits provide up to 15 time life versus black-oxide drill bits.

Tungaloy expands the drill diameter range of the DrillMeister exchangeable-head drills to include diameters from 8.0 mm to 11.9 mm in 12xD body length.

The DC160 X∙treme Evo Advance solid-carbide universal drill from Walter, features exceptional positioning accuracy. This is achieved with its innovative new thinner web at the point; rapid guidance in the hole due to the advanced positioning of the margins; and high productivity in many different applications.

Inovatools offers a revised deep-hole drill product series (15xD to 30xD). The new Deepmax products entirely supersede the previous Inovatools range in this area.

Link Industries released a "revolutionary" drilling tool, the 2+1 Spot-Drill-Countersink x 82°. This newly patented design strategically combines spot, drill and countersink actions in a single tool made from HSS for high-speed machining aluminum. Like most Link Industries tools made from HSS, this drill performs at carbide-like speed and feeds, with HSS toughness.
