MC Machinery Systems Inc. announces its newest CO2 laser: the eX Plus series. The updated, offering expands on Mitsubishi's popular eX series and LVPlus II model. Improvements like its high-speed, heavy-duty motion system and more powerful piercing can reduce processing times by 50 percent when compared to previous generations.

MC Machinery Systems says its 3015 SR CO2 laser system combines high-quality cutting, improved productivity and exceptional value. The SR features the fifth generation of the Flying Optic system and construction based on its popular predecessor, the eX-S.

Coherent Inc. has expanded its AVIA family of lasers with new models having green output and which reportedly offer an unmatched combination of power, reliability and compact size for a range of precision materials processing applications.

Mersen USA offers ultrafine-grain graphite for sinker EDMing. The top-performing DS4, featuring the DarkStar ultrafine-carbon particle, helps users confidently handle challenging EDM operations while saving money, according to the company. The easy-to-machine and strong DS4 imparts a fine surface finish and intricate detail.

Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESI), Shanghai, China, recently introduced the Garnet adaptable laser micromachining platform for high-volume cutting, marking, drilling or engraving applications, according to a Feb. 16 company news release. The Garnet platform is said to compliment ESI's current micromachining portfolio delivering lower cost of ownership—specifically to meet the need for larger format materials among manufacturers in China.

The EDGE X-5 waterjet system from Jet Edge Inc., St. Michael, Minn., is designed and built for heavy duty industrial use in waterjet shops that demand lasting performance, precision and accuracy, the company announced in a Feb. 9 news release. The system reportedly cuts precise 3D parts and bevels up to 50°.

Coherent Inc., Santa Clara, Calif., recently enhanced its series of large-area, high-speed PowerMax-Pro laser detectors to enable power measurement of laser beams of up to 375W continuously, 600W for shorter durations, and modulated peak powers as high as 15 kW in intermittent (long-pulse) operation, according to the company.

Makino Inc., Mason, Ohio, recently introduced the EDNC21 sinker electrical discharge machine (EDM) with dual heads that reportedly improve productivity and lower tool build time for large molds, the company announced in a Jan. 26 news release. The EDNC21 also includes Makino's latest EDM innovations and developments, such as the Hyper-i control, HyperCut technology and new HS-Rib high-speed Z-axis.

FOBA Laser Marking + Engraving's Y-Series ytterbium fiber lasers are for marking parts made of metal, plastic and other materials. A scan head vision system for in-process imaging combines validation and verification prior to and directly after laser marking.

Makino introduces its latest innovation in wire EDM technology, the U1310 wire EDM. It is designed to substantially improve ease of operation, machining speed and accuracy in large workpiece applications. The U1310 offers X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 1310 mm by 1010 mm by 520 mm, and is optional with a larger full stroke 620mm Z-Axis.

Optodyne Inc., Rancho Dominguez, Calif., a maker of laser measurement, calibration and compensation systems, recently introduced a new and improved laser calibration system—the MCV-500H and MCV-5000H. The MCV-500H and MCV-5000H laser calibration system is a basic system for linear displacement measurement, the company said in a news release issued Dec. 17, 2015.

The new TruPrint 1000 LMF 3D printer works like a selective laser melting 3D printer, using a powder bed process to build 3D parts by laying down a thin layer of metal powder materials onto the build surface while a 200-watt laser fuses the layer of powder along the contour of the part being printed.
