The CoroThread 266 thread turning tool from Sandvik Coromant is available with precision over- and under-coolant to improve process security and maximize efficiency. The addition of over-coolant improves chip formation for more secure machining, while under-coolant controls temperature for long and predictable tool life. Precision coolant also has positive effects on surface finish, supporting the generation of high-quality threads.

FlexArm Inc. introduces a mobile tapping package which yields mobility, productivity and efficiency by allowing operators to tap holes offline while the machining center works on the next part. This comprehensive package includes the FlexArm GH-18-1 tapping arm with a tap capacity of #6 to 5/8", a reach from 17"-72", variable speed from 100-420 rpm, 360-degree movement, and a semiautomatic tap lubricator.

Walter has introduced the TC120, TC121 and TC122 Supreme, three new blind-hole taps that combine maximum performance in steel with improved tool life and process reliability. These new entries in the Walter Supreme line have been specially developed for machining steel.

Walter has expanded the range of its innovative T2711/T2712 thread milling cutter family for cutting large threads with two new tool bodies for the M56 and M64 threads and three new thread milling cutter inserts. Walter's multiple-row T2711/T2712 thread milling cutter family, which can increase productivity for some applications by as much as 90 percent, can now be used for all dimensions in the coarse-pitch thread range.

Walter has expanded its popular Paradur HT HSS-E blind-hole tap range by adding UNC thread dimensions. Previously available in dimensions M4-M36 and M10×1-M33×2, Walter has now expanded the range of the taps to include dimensions UNC 1/4-UNC 1.

Allied Machine & Engineering adds the AccuThread T3 to their existing thread mill line. The new AccuThread T3 is built for machining hardened or hard-to-machine materials, such as stainless steel, tool steel and high-temperature alloys.

In response to strong demand for reliable machining solutions in the aerospace industry, Sandvik Coromant has launched new tapping and thread milling tools for ISO S materials (titanium and nickel-based alloys). The products have been specifically designed to enhance process security on high-value components, such as engine casings, thus providing reductions in scrap rates and machine downtime.

Designed for internal threading and grooving applications, the new Carmex Modular Line (ML) uses a single boring bar that can be fitted with multiple adapters, offering high accuracy, easy adjustment and full repeatability. Coated with abrasive-resistant nickel, the ML adapters can be used with all Carmex standard thread turning inserts sizes 16, 22 and 27 mm.

When a large new vessel is put to sea, it usually is equipped with a tunnel thruster (or bow thruster), which acts as a side propeller system to allow for additional maneuverability of the ship at berth and on open sea. Using tunnel thrusters, captains have increased control and can turn around a ship on a dime, raising ship's efficiency.
