Leine & Linde introduced the use of Siemens DRIVE-CLiQ communication protocol into its rotary encoder product line in 2012, and is now offering this interface in its inductive 600 absolute rotary encoder series from Heidenhain.
DRIVE-CLiQ is an Ethernet-based protocol which interfaces with SINAMICS control systems. With a speed of 100 Mbit/s and a cycle time of 31.25 µs, DRIVE-CLiQ has the performance required for demanding applications. Motion control system components with DRIVE-CLiQ are automatically configured with each other since every component has an electronic label.
Leine & Linde's model IHA 608 encoder with DRIVE-CLiQ has a singleturn resolution of 19 bits, with mechanical gear based multiturn resolution of 12 bits. The encoders are available with a synchro flange or a clamping flange. For solid-shaft encoders, both 6mm and 10mm are available with or without a flat, and a blind hollow-shaft with 12mm bore is also available. The IHA 608 comes in an anodized Aluminum housing with protection up to IP67.
An 8-pin M12 radial flange socket is used for electrical connection of the rotary encoder, with power supply and data in the same connector. Ready-made cables with 3, 6, 15, and 30 meters are available for direct attachment to the SINAMIC control.
