AMFG is launching its new Machining Strategy feature for its Estimating & Quoting software, along with upgraded 2D PDF analysis with enhanced secondary treatment extraction within Sentinel AI. The update gives estimators and CAM programmers clear visibility into how quotes are calculated, improving speed and consistency across shop teams.

AMFG’s Estimating & Quoting software already captures CAD deep feature and geometry data from 3D models, combined with relevant GD&T and title block data from PDFs. The Machining Strategy’s key update involves increasing visibility for their Estimating & Quoting capabilities to see how these estimates are calculated. AMFG now breaks down estimates by feature and provides visibility into the types of setups and tools for CNC milling and turning that estimates are based on.

Users can now see the tools and the number of setups AMFG calculates the job will require, a feature that will change the way custom part manufacturers estimate and quote. Visualizing the machining strategy automatically enables experienced estimators to quote significantly faster while allowing less experienced team members to quickly learn and standardize the quoting flow. It also provides a starting point for CAM programmers to think about how the part is produced.

AMFG’s update also gives estimators deeper control and feature coverage. Users can incorporate complex operations like threading or instantly include and exclude specific features from calculations to protect job margins.

Alongside the 3D CAD enhancements, the release includes an update on Sentinel AI, building on its existing ability to automatically detect features and extract key specifications. Sentinel AI can now also identify and extract required secondary treatments directly from 2D drawings. This update introduces a split screen view so users can cross reference 2D PDF drawings against 3D CAD models simultaneously, making highlighted specifications, tolerances and secondary finishes easier to see.

Instead of generating a “black box” number, AMFG now shows the exact logic behind every estimate, showing you step-by-step how to machine the part in minutes. From new hire to veteran, every member can now build fast, accurate and reliable quotes with the roadmap to machine it. Quote faster without feeling left in the dark about how you got there.
