Hydrofiber Filter Media

October 01, 2014

Eriez says HydroFlow HYDROFIBER is a 100 pure and natural powdered cellulose filter media, produced from virgin pulp. Each grade of HYDROFIBER meets exacting standards for quality and filtration performance consistency.

This industrial powdered cellulose filter media promotes cake filtration, which is the finest and most economical method of filtering and removing the finest particulate from various metalworking fluids.

HYDROFIBER is compatible in many pressure filter styles such as candles, discs or plate constructions. It rapidly mixes to form a slurry for uniform distribution and can be mixed with removed contaminate for multiple disposal options.

HYDROFIBER is ideal for use in vacuum filtration on filter drums, screens and removable vacuum elements such as HydroFlow STAR Filter Systems. It effectively enhances filter clarity and performance for rolled media vacuums and pressure filters. HYDROFIBER aids in the recovery of precious metals with low ash content upon incineration. This completely safe, non-abrasive food-grade filter media will not cause damage to pumps, valves or equipment.

Typical HYDROFIBER applications include:

• CBN grinding on various oils.

• Steel carbide, Inconel, cast iron and aluminum grinding on oil and water-soluble coolants.

• Honing, super-abrasives, lapping, polishing and burnishing processes.

• Ceramic and glass grinding and polishing.

• Component and parts washing.

• Waste water effluents.

Related Glossary Terms

  • burnishing

    burnishing

Finishing method by means of compressing or cold-working the workpiece surface with carbide rollers called burnishing rolls or burnishers.

  • cubic boron nitride ( CBN)

    cubic boron nitride ( CBN)

Crystal manufactured from boron nitride under high pressure and temperature. Used to cut hard-to-machine ferrous and nickel-base materials up to 70 HRC. Second hardest material after diamond. See superabrasive tools.

  • grinding

    grinding

Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.

  • lapping

    lapping

Finishing operation in which a loose, fine-grain abrasive in a liquid medium abrades material. Extremely accurate process that corrects minor shape imperfections, refines surface finishes and produces a close fit between mating surfaces.

  • metalworking

    metalworking

Any manufacturing process in which metal is processed or machined such that the workpiece is given a new shape. Broadly defined, the term includes processes such as design and layout, heat-treating, material handling and inspection.

  • polishing

    polishing

Abrasive process that improves surface finish and blends contours. Abrasive particles attached to a flexible backing abrade the workpiece.

  • recovery

    recovery

Reduction or removal of workhardening effects, without motion of large-angle grain boundaries.
