Eriez HydroFlow offers a complete line of the most commonly used test equipment and titration kits for keeping metalworking fluids in peak operating condition. These hand-held instruments accurately measure fluid conditions so corrective actions can be taken before major problems arise.
Maintaining the proper concentration in industrial fluids is extremely important to maximize the performance and value of the fluid. If the fluid is run too lean, tool life and fluid life can drop dramatically. If the fluid is run too rich, money is being wasted.
The Eriez HydroFlow Automatic Temperature Compensating Refractometer allows plant operators to quickly determine the concentration of metalworking coolants and cleaners, heat-treating fluids, water-based hydraulic fluids, and even plating baths. This simple yet rugged device is portable, and requires no batteries. Its large, easy-to-read scale is available in two ranges: 0-10 degrees Brix and 0-32 degrees Brix.
These handy fluid recycling instruments are designed for most metalworking operations, including cutting and grinding fluids, synthetic machining fluids, plating and acid baths, cleaner baths, water-based hydraulic fluids, die lubricants and chromating solutions.
Related Glossary Terms
- grinding
grinding
Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.
- heat-treating
heat-treating
Process that combines controlled heating and cooling of metals or alloys in their solid state to derive desired properties. Heat-treatment can be applied to a variety of commercially used metals, including iron, steel, aluminum and copper.
- metalworking
metalworking
Any manufacturing process in which metal is processed or machined such that the workpiece is given a new shape. Broadly defined, the term includes processes such as design and layout, heat-treating, material handling and inspection.
- refractometer
refractometer
Optical instrument that measures the refractive index of a liquid, such as a water-diluted metalworking fluid mix. The refractive index can by used to determine the concentration of a fresh metalworking fluid mix.
