The NEMI Tool Setter from Northern Engineering & Manufacturing Inc. enables off-line tool measurement, according to the website for the Zimmerman, Minn.-based company. The tool setter reportedly allows users to measure tools in seconds and be ready for the next job while the machine is still in production.

The device is said to eliminate downtime and costly machine damage that can occur while setting tools.

The company designs and manufactures tools intended to simplify CNC operations so that operators are able to pre-set tools at a workbench—without all of the bending and stretching that would otherwise be required. The NEMI Tool Setter reportedly allows operators to find the distance from the gage line of the holder to the tip of the cutting tool. This value becomes the tool offset number that gets entered into the CNC machine.
