High-performance Step-Tec spindles are built for all milling operations from roughing to fine surface finishing. With advanced hybrid ball bearings and thermally robust hybrid cylindrical roller bearings, the spindles enable milling with extra-long tools while delivering aggressive material removal rates at high feed rates. GF Machining Solutions will also offer, as optional, the Step-Tec spindle in 24,000 and 36,000-rpm versions.

Effective April 1, 2021 the names of each of these models will also change. B, F or V will be the first letter of each product name. ChipBLASTER options including Chillers, Mist Collectors, Oil Removal Systems, Cyclonic Filtration and Sludge Tank remain unchanged. Additionally, an inexpensive wash wand that uses coolant to wash down the inside of a machine tool, is available for the F- and V- Series systems.

Maintaining climb and conventional machining is crucial for surface finish and tool life. Controlling Climb and Conventional Cutting for Morph, Parallel, Unified, Project Curve, and Flow toolpaths now provide constant control of climb or conventional cutting even while in complex areas that would require use of both sides of the tool.n

Among the primary enhancements on the VARIAXIS i-800 NEO is the MAZATROL SmoothAi CNC. It features such functions as SMOOTH Machining Configuration (SMC) for process optimization with real-time operator control of a wide range of cutting parameters and Ai Thermal Shield for stable machining accuracy through smart compensation for heat displacement. Also with the launch of the MAZATROL SmoothAi, Mazak introduced its SMOOTH Project Manager Gateway software as an available option.

Designed for heavy-duty 5-axis machining and large, highly complex parts, the INTEGREX i-630V AG employs a powerful turning spindle with C-axis control and a rigid milling spindle with B-axis tilt of -30/+120 degrees, both of which are monitored via rotary axis scale feedback. During the All Axes LIVE event demonstration, the machine power skived a 35" diameter gear made from 4140 steel.

The machines within the i-H Series sport new, ergonomic enclosures with compact footprints that require less floor space. In addition, Mazak equipped the machines with faster and more powerful turning spindles, space-saving milling spindles and a new parallel-type lower turret with optional live tooling capabilities. The company also expanded tool capacities for lower turrets and for tool storage magazines along with offering a wider range of chuck size options.

The HCN-6800 NEO received numerous upgrades that take the previous generation's performance to a new level of efficiency and ease-of-use. The standard spindle, table, and magazine have all received significant improvements, including an upgraded, new standard 43-tool drum-type magazine that reduces tool exchange times. A redesigned ATC door is now servo-driven and faster; the new design will now also accommodate a longer tool. Likewise, for ease of maintenance, the machine incorporates hydraulic/motorized pallet changer mechanisms and an easier-to-access maintenance panel.

High tool life is achieved thru WEP10C coated cermet grade with multilayer TiCN TiAlN PVD coating and fine cermet micro grain. The combination of edge preparation and grade also ensures dimensional stability over long periods of time, which boosts productivity in mass productionn

The VGP20 provides unlimited cup and airflow customization and multichannel functionality, allowing it to be deployed on multiple items of different shapes and sizes. Additionally, the VGP20 gripper's built-in intelligence, combined with its easy-to-use software, provides precise air flow control functionality that is beyond the capabilities of traditional pneumatic grippers. This functionality allows users to vary the type of grip used in different applications, such as the soft grip used to handle delicate items to the hard grip required for handling bulky, heavy cardboard boxes with porous surfaces.

In terms of speed, all machines now accelerate at 1,900 mm/s2, representing an increase of 15% for the two smaller models and 20% for the largest model. Velocity is up by 38% across the product range to 720 mm/s. As regards accuracy, maximum permissible measuring error on all machines is now 1.7+L/333 µm when measurements are taken of a feature L millimeters in length between 18°C and 22°C, irrespective of whether a TP200, SP25, TP20 or PH20 probe is used. This performance represents length measurement accuracy improvements of 22%, 22%, 32% and 43% for the four respective probes, while maximum permissible probing error is also better and so also is repeatability of measurements by 15% when using a PH20.

The M18 FUEL™ 4-1/2" / 5" Grinders will be available May 2021, followed by the M18 FUEL™ 4-1/2" / 5" Braking Grinders w/ ONE-KEY™ available Summer 2021. The new braking grinders will deliver all the same performance upgrades as the 4-1/2" / 5" Grinders with an added RAPIDSTOP™ Brake to enhance safety. n

The APC measures just 82.68" by 82.68"/2,100 millimeters (mm) by 2,100 mm. The compact APC gives the MB 650U AMP the ability to complete multiple workpieces without the need for additional automation. The work envelope spans 19.7"/500 mm in diameter and 19.7 "/500 mm in height, with a weight of 425 pounds/192 kilograms, allowing users to handle workpieces of various sizes and weights with ease. The confluence of the APC and the 48-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) reduces setup and changeover times.n
