The FreeBSD system – and thus also TwinCAT/BSD – supports ARM CPUs up to Intel® Xeon® processors, providing a scalable platform from small embedded controllers to high-performance IPCs. With this scalable new solution, Beckhoff presents a new operating system that combines the advantages of Windows CE – low cost and small footprint – with the numerous features of large Windows operating systems. Therefore, TwinCAT/BSD is also an alternative to Windows 7 or 10 in many applications.

This new LIC 3100 absolute kit encoder is an additional offering that fits between HEIDENHAIN's already successful LIC 4100 and 2100 series. It is expected to be of special interest to users since it is also especially tolerant to contamination and has very loose mounting tolerances.

The closed, sound-proofed stand-alone units are made entirely of stainless steel. They are only equipped with components and materials used in cleanroom applications. The basic configuration of the CX20x3 includes two independent Gbit Ethernet interfaces, four USB 3.1 Gen. 2 and one DVI-D interface. In addition to the CPU and chipset, the basic module also includes 8 GB RAM. The controller boots from a removable CFast flash card. The CPU has 128 kB of internal NOVRAM as persistent data memory if a UPS is not used. A fieldbus and serial interface are available as options.
