Fastems, one of the world's leaders in manufacturing automation equipment and software, has developed a new load handler that can both load machine tools directly and act as an automatic pallet changer. The load handler is the device on the FMS stacker crane that moves pallets between storage, machines, and the loading/material stations in a Fastems FMS.

HEIDENHAIN's ERA 4000 angle encoders consist of a steel drum at various diameters with the 20-, 40- or 80-micron graduation on the outer diameter, and a scanning unit that reads the graduation. As an incremental system, there are reference marks available as distance-coded or one per revolution.

Each jaw of the MM e-motion is independently controlled and monitored by an individual electro-mechanical drive, which allows for many clamping functions including self-centering, compensating, and individual jaw movement all within one fully automated chuck.

The new AL8000 product family is based on a modular system design consisting of linear motors and magnetic plates. Users can choose between three widths: 50 mm (AL8x2x), 80 mm (AL8x4x) and 130 mm (AL8x6x).
