The new EC-400 horizontal machining center from Haas Automation Inc. is faster, more rigid, has a larger work cube and offers more tool capacity than its predecessor. When equipped with the available integrated, 6-station pallet pool and 100+1 side-mount toolchanger, the new EC-400 brings true "lights out" machining capability to small- and medium-sized manufacturers and production shops.

Many industries today, such as aerospace and automotive design, are turning to 5-axis machining to speed manufacturing processes and increase accuracy. The ability to machine complex shapes, undercuts, and difficult angles in a single setup reduces tooling costs and labor time, resulting in a better cost per part.

Rotary tables are ideal for machining multiple sides of a part in a single setup or for machining many parts on a multiple-sided fixture. But handling very large or very small parts can prove challenging without the correct size rotary. Sandvik Coromant is set to release two new grades for interrupted hard-part turning operations: CB7125 and CB7135. Available in October 2018, the grades will complete the company's offer for hard-part turning, complementing the existing CB7105 and CB7115 grades.

Cincinnati Inc. has released a new carbon fiber resin material for its SAAM (Small Area Additive Manufacturing) 3D printing system. The new material is impact resistant, lightweight and has a very high strength-to-weight ratio. Carbon fiber reinforcement makes the material stiff, durable and very low warping – and advanced inter-layer adhesion results in accurate, quality parts with good dimensions. The material's superior surface finish makes it perfect for custom tooling applications, as well as assembly, CMM, welding and CNC fixtures.

Effective extraction and discharge of slag at the same time with almost no downtime: The new extraction table KEMPER TheSlagger reduces downtime to a minimum for automated cutting processes in comparison to traditional cutting tables. Thanks to a special discharge technique, it avoids time-consuming disassembly of the cutting table elements and thus long machine downtime. The effective extraction system ensures a high level of occupational safety and protects nearby machinery from cutting dust.
