Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced CarbonForce, a new lightweight line of vitrified CBN wheels for OD grinding. With proprietary high-strength carbon fiber cores, CarbonForce wheels are 75 percent lighter than heavier steel-hubbed wheels and provide the safety and performance-enhancing benefits of a precision superabrasive wheel, according to the company.

Kennametal Inc. says the bending moment of KM4X is substantially higher than any tooling interface available on the market, superior even to Kennametal's own KM design. Kennametal has announced the KM4X tooling family has gained a 63 mm sibling, one aimed at a broader machine tool platform and, therefore, greater availability to the machining community.

DoForce-Tri from Tungaloy America accepts a double-sided insert with six cutting edges. TM Robotics, in partnership with Toshiba Machine, announced the newest in Toshiba Machine's BA Cartesian series, the BAIII. Unlike most Cartesian suppliers, the Toshiba Machine solution is a plug-and-play offering as all cables, junction boxes, brackets, motors and controllers are supplied with the actuators. This means there's no need for calibration between the motor and the actuator or between the motor and the controller, which enables users to reduce their engineering costs – saving both time and money – and use the BAIII as soon as it's installed.
