>Q six< Optical Metrology System

December 01, 2014

Sensofar Medical has been established as a new company within the Sensofar Group, with the goal of applying Sensofar's optical profilometry technology to medical applications. The new company's first product is the >Q six< system for assisted stent inspection, designed as a comprehensive solution for simplifying and streamlining stent assessment and approval.

Two-dimensional high-resolution imaging permits inspection of both inner and outer surfaces as well as the sidewalls of the stent structure. 3D optical modes then provide further detail on surface roughness, surface topography and coating thickness. An assisted mode in the Q six UI features the necessary algorithms and functions to "unroll" imaged sections and thus enable easy but accurate measurement of critical dimensions, assessment of edge features and enabling automatic defect detection and classification.

Taken together, all of these features are designed to make the task of stent approval much easier and quicker, thus facilitating rapid quality control with no sacrifice in QC performance. Q six is fully compliant with 21CFR Part 11 requirements. Q six's target markets are on-line inspection, process development and industrial R&D.

Related Glossary Terms

  • quality assurance ( quality control)

    quality assurance ( quality control)

Terms denoting a formal program for monitoring product quality. The denotations are the same, but QC typically connotes a more traditional postmachining inspection system, while QA implies a more comprehensive approach, with emphasis on “total quality,” broad quality principles, statistical process control and other statistical methods.
