Rolled Media Vacuum Filter Systems

July 28, 2016

With companies’ demands shifting from individual machines to central systems to support many different machines, Eriez HydroFlow continues to invest in improving and simplifying the design of their Rolled Media Vacuum Filter System. These state-of-the-art filters eliminate the need for multiple filters, free up valuable floor space and impart the highest level of performance and reliability.

By utilizing one central system for multiple machines, customers effectively reduce disposal media costs while improving filtration and longevity of their coolants. Designed for continuous service with minimal operator attention, Eriez HydroFlow Rolled Media Vacuum Filter Systems provide a consistent quality of solids separation and increase productivity.

The Eriez HydroFlow Rolled Media Vacuum Filter System ensures consistent flows, pressures and coolant cleanliness. Their simple design includes a single collection point for swarf and units can be manufactured with redundant components to eliminate downtime.

Rolled Media Vacuum Filter Systems enable positive filtration levels of 10 microns. They feature a proprietary vacuum box design which provides a superior seal and better fluid filtration, resulting in significant cost-saving advantages over conventional vacuum filters. Eriez offers three models and a range of media options to supply the right combination of capacity, throughput and filtration.

These advanced filter systems are an ideal choice for large or small central systems using oil or water-based coolants. They reportedly offer proven performance in an array of applications, including machining, grinding, creep feed and CBN grinding.

Related Glossary Terms

  • coolant

    coolant

Fluid that reduces temperature buildup at the tool/workpiece interface during machining. Normally takes the form of a liquid such as soluble or chemical mixtures (semisynthetic, synthetic) but can be pressurized air or other gas. Because of water’s ability to absorb great quantities of heat, it is widely used as a coolant and vehicle for various cutting compounds, with the water-to-compound ratio varying with the machining task. See cutting fluid; semisynthetic cutting fluid; soluble-oil cutting fluid; synthetic cutting fluid.

  • cubic boron nitride ( CBN)

    cubic boron nitride ( CBN)

Crystal manufactured from boron nitride under high pressure and temperature. Used to cut hard-to-machine ferrous and nickel-base materials up to 70 HRC. Second hardest material after diamond. See superabrasive tools.

  • feed

    feed

Rate of change of position of the tool as a whole, relative to the workpiece while cutting.

  • grinding

    grinding

Machining operation in which material is removed from the workpiece by a powered abrasive wheel, stone, belt, paste, sheet, compound, slurry, etc. Takes various forms: surface grinding (creates flat and/or squared surfaces); cylindrical grinding (for external cylindrical and tapered shapes, fillets, undercuts, etc.); centerless grinding; chamfering; thread and form grinding; tool and cutter grinding; offhand grinding; lapping and polishing (grinding with extremely fine grits to create ultrasmooth surfaces); honing; and disc grinding.

  • swarf

    swarf

Metal fines and grinding wheel particles generated during grinding.
