TIM551 2D Laser Scanner

March 01, 2014

SICK announced the launch of the TIM551 2D laser scanner. This IP 67-rated ranging scanner sends information about surrounding contours via Ethernet using time-of-flight technology.

The TIM551 provides reliable object detection and accurate measurement information regardless of surface and ambient light conditions due to SICK's proprietary HDDM technology, which provides precision at long sensing distances and a high operating temperature range and ambient light tolerance, according to the company. Suitable for both stationary and mobile applications, the TIM551 can also obtain object size and shape information. With its long scanning range of up to 10 meters (8 meters on black targets), one TIM551 scanner can be used for monitoring an area up to 235 square meters. The TIM551 includes a rotatable M12 connector, which provides easy device connection and replacement.

With a maximum height of 86mm, the TIM551 can be easily integrated into a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications, particularly where space is limited. The TIM551 is ideal for robotics, building automation, mobile vehicle and conveyor applications.
