Compared to mechanical, roller or ball bearing based linear stages and rotary stages, air bearings are friction free and wear free and generate no particles during operation, making them clean-room compatible and ideal for dynamic, 24/7 duty cycle automation applications. In an air bearing stage, the moving platform glides on a thin film of air. This principle also is responsible for the surface averaging effect that significantly improves geometric performance such as straightness and flatness in linear motion applications while reducing runout and wobble in rotary tables.

An environmentally friendlier combination of heat, pressure and chemistry - Unlike traditional parts washers that use petroleum or chlorinated solvents, Torrent uses a water-based surfactant blend. This unique, solvent-free approach to parts washing reduces employee risk while cleaning 90% of parts within one minute.

Also known as set collars, shaft collars are used to clamp and position components to a shaft, such as tools, fittings, or machinery and transmission including bearings, gearboxes and motors. WDS’ new inch-size shaft-collars are based on the company’s original metric design but with dimensions to suit OEMs and end users based in North America, as well as machine builders shipping to the North American market.

TungCut CBN-tipped STH inserts provide the solution to these challenges with a completely new turning concept. In the shape of TungCut grooving insert, the new STH inserts perform finish-turning by feeding the insert sideways on the worked surface. Its CBN cutting edge features a unique wiper geometry: the frontal edge features an arc wiper of large radius. This generates superior surface finish in straight-line turning applications, while also allowing increased feed rates of up to 1.5 mm (.060″) per revolution with up to 0.1 mm (.004″) d.o.c.

PlateSaver is available through Hypertherm’s ProNest and other authorized software for fabricators cutting mild steel on a CNC table using X-Definition plasma. It combines the arc stability of X-Definition plasma with specialized software parameters to dramatically increase material utilization. Those parameters cause PlateSaver to use shorter leads when starting and finishing a cut for less wasted space between parts. In addition to shorter lead-ins and lead-outs, PlateSaver takes molten metal into account by using moving pierces that cause molten splatter to fall within a predictable “splash zone.”

The primary application of the Tiger·tec Gold inserts is steels with various tensile strengths that can be machined. These indexable inserts are ideal for use in the automotive, energy, and general metalworking industries, where the inserts can significantly help reduce the cost per component. Walter is offering Tiger·tec Gold indexable insert grades with its signature geometries starting with finishing (FP5), medium machining (MP3, MP5, MU5) all the way to roughing (RP7, HU5), etc. along with some other niche geometries for specialist troubleshooting purposes.

The IP68 enclosures except size 44.27 are made of corrosion-proof foundry grade aluminum alloy and they are coated with oven-cured thermosetting paint with epoxy power, which makes the enclosures highly resistant to scratch, shock, seawater, and chemicals. The IP68 enclosure series is larger than the standard enclosures, providing more space for easier cable management, and the walls are thicker to provide more mechanical robustness. However, the fixing points remain the same as those on the standard enclosure. The IP68 enclosures use two different locking systems, bayonets and screws, instead of the locking levers on the standard enclosure.

Since carbide shanks provide lower deflection than steel shanks, they enable aggressive machining with increased cutting parameters. This amounts to reduced machining time and increased productivity. Also, the new shanks provide excellent vibration resistance, enabling extremely productive machining with long overhang setup.

The newly upgraded Niagara Cutter A245/A345 product family solves the power consumption issue that most aluminum manufactures encounter. By combining an engineered flute shape and polished K-land, giving you an optimal combination of helix angle and rake angle, this product family reduces power consumption by a minimum of 20%.

A new Toggle Cam Output performs an asymmetrical toggle function, turning an output off or on for different stroke amounts. The output can be used to operate diverter gates and to control complex gagging operations. The new On/Off Counter Cam Output precisely controls functions that need to operate at a preset interval instead of on every machine cycle. Operating similarly, a new Pulsed Counter Cam Output is programmed with an “on angle” and a dwell time instead of an on-off output.

Costly multi-machine operation becomes a thing of the past in cases where various electrode materials need to be processed, as does the associated laborious setup of multiple processes. In addition, considerably healthier work conditions can be achieved due to the absence of dust. Processing graphite with the right metalworking fluid is an extremely economical process that achieves higher-quality workpieces and .005 tolerances.

Signature analysis allows monitoring these cutting processes where the material diameter changes consistently during a cut. The RPM varies as the material increases or decreases causing sensor fluctuations unrelated to the tooling. To monitor these cutting operations, the signature analysis software learns the entire path (signature) of a cut using any sensor type. The user will define boundaries around this signature, both above and below it.  These boundaries define a window that the signature must stay within to satisfy a good cut.
