Tooling Tech Group (TTG), a provider of highly engineered tools and automated assembly equipment to a range of industries, has appointed Matthew Edwards as its director of operations.

As manufacturing operations expand across the Western United States, Mazak Corp. has grown its service and support network in the region by opening a new Phoenix Technical Center, scheduled for later this year. The facility will give local manufacturers access to process and application engineering expertise, training, and collaboration opportunities for developing new manufacturing solutions.

The GROB G150 5-Axis Universal Machining Center from Grob Systems Inc. is the company's smallest horizontal machining center in its modular G-series Universal line. According to the company, the G150 provides high precision, complex machining in a compact size with a smaller work envelope. Mazak has built its 40,000th machine at the company's Mazak iSmart Factory in Florence, Kentucky. The 518,320-square-foot facility, situated on Mazak's nearly 1-million-square-foot manufacturing campus, produces many of Mazak's most popular machine models, including its Quick Turn Series machines, VTC Series machines, and Ez Series of turning and milling centers. It is home to the company's U.S. manufacturing technology R&D efforts.

The powRgrip (PG) 48 toolholding system from Rego-Fix USA is suited for large-diameter tools and aggressive machining. For cutters up to 40mm (1.500") in diameter, the company says the PG 48 holder ensures concentricity and total indicated runout (TIR) with deviations of less than 3 µm (0.0001") for tool lengths up to 3 x diameter and length pre-adjustment with a repeat accuracy of less than 10 µm (0.0004").

For high-speed and high-precision turning in a space-saving design, the Mazak Corp. QTE-100 CNC turning center with a 6" chuck can process parts up to 11.42" in diameter. The QTE-100 features a built-in motor spindle designed to deliver high torque, even at low speeds, for enhanced cutting capacity.
