Open Mind Technologies, a developer of CAD/CAM software solutions worldwide, announced that together with Hermle USA and Fraisa USA, has teamed up to produce little Santas for helping with holiday preparations.

This effort comes at the Nick of time with Christmas fast approaching and workforce shortages at the North Pole. The little helpers were machined in just under four hours on a HERMLE C 400 Performance Line 5-Axis CNC Machine with a HS flex hybrid automation cell and tools from FRAISA programmed with hyperMILL® CAD/CAM software.

Using the hyperMILL VIRTUAL Machining technology, which provides postprocessing and G-code simulation, toolpaths were generated and proven-out securely and efficiently. A 3D Optimized Roughing strategy was also employed to prepare the little helper for finishing. The Smooth Overlap technique in hyperMILL was used to blend adjacent toolpaths, resulting in an imperceptible blend zone that mitigates the need for manual or other subsequent finishing processes.
