Slater Tools announces its range of indexable punch broaches and holders to machine shapes in workpieces where rotary broaching may not be feasible. Such cases include (greater) depth of operation, tough materials, tooth height, chip evacuation challenges and applications that require orientation.

The manufacturing world is embracing 3D metal printing in a big way. GE Aviation is using it to print fuel nozzles, saving aircraft owners millions in operation costs annually per plane. Medical device companies use it to print patient-specific orthopedic implants and life-saving surgical instruments.

Sandvik Coromant hosted a "Digitalization on Machining" panel of leading digital manufacturing industry experts on Nov. 1, 2017, at the Center for Manufacturing Innovation in Greenville, S.C. It started in 2015, when engineers at a major U.S.-based aircraft manufacturer kicked-off a challenge to determine which cutting tool manufacturer offers the best products for milling forged Ti-6Al-4V titanium. The company invited Kennametal and 10 other global tooling suppliers to the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in the U.K., where the different teams competed in the challenge.
