The turbocharger has been state-of-the-art in diesel vehicles for some time. And almost all automotive manufacturers offer a turbocharged petrol engine. Why? The turbocharger makes comparable performance with a smaller engine capacity possible and that contributes to the advance in downsizing. Turbochargers also help to achieve lower fuel consumption and are therefore fundamental in meeting strict emission limits.

The latest release of EDGECAM features toolpath associativity for the facemill cycle, the option to extend the solution's parallel lace toolpath, enhanced additive undercutting, and a total of about 30 updates. Alongside the new EDGECAM 2020.1, the optional CAD for CAM Designer module has now replaced Part Modeler.

BIG KAISER has released a new set of insert grades for its indexable tools—C-Cutter Mini, C-Centering Cutter and Fullcut Mill. The new inserts are optimized to extend tool life in stainless steel or aluminum.

In order to offer more flexibility to customers, BIG KAISER has moved production of its CAT50 milling adapters to the U.S. The product performance and design will not change, but the move allows for more variation and faster delivery of special lengths for specific applications.

MC Machinery Systems is known as a supplier of Mitsubishi EDMs and laser machines, and Mitsubishi EDM/Laser is prominently displayed on the company's headquarters in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, but several seminars focused on hard milling and 5-axis machining were presented during its EDM National open house. Heidenhain Corp.'s Acu-Rite brand introduces new software for its versatile 300 series digital readout (DRO) that now allows users to control a sinker EDM. This new development broadens this established DRO's use to include all of the most common manual shop machines such as milling, turning, grinding and now EDM in a single DRO.
