The CrazyMill Cool products have been developed by the Swiss tool manufacturer Mikron Tool for milling in small dimensions with high performance and quality. Now a new "family member" has been added. It is a four-teeth finishing milling cutter with shank integrated cooling, available in the diameter range of 1 to 8 mm und for milling depths of up to 5 diameters deep.

Seco Tools has introduced its R217/220.28 cutters with new body designs that incorporate double-sided round inserts to deliver cost-effective performance, as well as boost productivity. Double-negative-positioning pocket seats of the R217/R220.28 cutters deliver enhanced cutting capability and significant gains in productivity, according to the company.

Slater Tools announces its range of indexable punch broaches and holders to machine shapes in workpieces where rotary broaching may not be feasible. Such cases include (greater) depth of operation, tough materials, tooth height, chip evacuation challenges and applications that require orientation.

It started in 2015, when engineers at a major U.S.-based aircraft manufacturer kicked-off a challenge to determine which cutting tool manufacturer offers the best products for milling forged Ti-6Al-4V titanium. The company invited Kennametal and 10 other global tooling suppliers to the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) in the U.K., where the different teams competed in the challenge.

A new, electric portable pipe machining tool that is a powerful alternative to pneumatic tools for end prepping boiler tubes and other pipe fabrication work has been introduced by Esco Tool. The ESCO MILLHOG Mini Electric Pipe Beveling Tool rigidly mounts to the tube or pipe ID and is suitable for end prepping heavy-wall stainless steel pipe and other highly alloyed metals when compressed air is not available.

The new MD133 Supreme milling cutter from Walter, designed specifically for dynamic milling, delivers increased process reliability, particularly during unmanned operation. It reportedly boosts productivity thanks to a higher metal-removal rate and a reduction in machining time.

DUO-LOCK from Kennametal Inc. is a modular endmill with the performance of solid carbide. It uses a proprietary, double-cone locating surface similar to that of Kennametal's KM or KM4X tooling design, assuring "not to exceed" radial runout values of 5 μm (.0002 in.) and Z-axis coupling repeatability of 10 μm (.0004 in.) or better.

Maintaining constant cutting forces provides a constant radial tool engagement throughout the entire cut, which eliminates spikes in the cutting forces. This approach allows the programmer to take a larger axial DOC while simultaneously maintaining a high feed rate and extending tool life.

Machining Inconel 718 and similar heat-resistant superalloys (HRSAs) at cutting speeds normally reserved for aluminum is not only possible but becoming an accepted practice at some aerospace OEMs.
