Turning

The nodding head spindle and direct-drive B-axis rotary table allow the DHF 8000ST to handle a complete range of machining and turning processes from roughing to finishing in a single setup. This ability to attack parts from all sides provides increased parts accuracy. In addition, the configuration makes quick work of multi-face workpieces and the 5-axis simultaneous machining of complex shapes.

The second generation EcoFilter® utilizes an innovative two-stage metal chip removal and coolant filtration design. A hinged steel belt conveyor handles primary removal of large chips. In a secondary process, a flow-through filtration cell separates fines from coolant. Heavy duty brushes attached to the bottom side of the belt wipe these fines from the surface of the filter cell, where they flow to the bottom of the conveyor via the patent pending CleanCleat®. Standard angle cleats on the bottom run of the conveyor belt then scrape the separated fine chips back to the top of the belt for discharge.n

WBH20 is a grade well suited for ISO-H Group of material such as for hard turning applications. WBS10 is well suited for ISO-S materials, specifically nickel-based (such as Inconel), iron-based (such as Udimet) or cobalt-based (such as Hayens).

GC4415 and GC4425 are ideal for manufacturers operating in mass and batch production setups machining low-alloyed (P 2.1 to 2.6) and unalloyed (P 1.1 to 1.5) steels, respectively. Grade GC4425 has been shown to outperform competing inserts in a majority of steel turning applications. It features improved wear, heat resistance and toughness, which significantly expands the application range. Both it and GC4415 can be used from finishing to roughing in applications with continuous cuts and light interruptions.n

On the new TURNPWR, a 12.1" high-resolution display boasts a screen layout that is clearly arranged and user friendly. Preview graphics in the editor illustrate the individual machining steps for programming the contour as well as corresponding tool path generated using only dimensions pulled from a production drawing. It also accepts DXF files.

Now, LACH DIAMOND doubles this efficiency by offering an insert with 2 tips: CBN-Duo-power.The development of new CBN cutting materials like the types B610 and B600 used by LACH DIAMOND met the demand of the automotive and component industry for a cutting material with long-term stability for the turning of hardened steels – and this with highest surface qualities of e.g. Ra 0,1 µm.n

The Greenleaf Quick-Change Toolholders conform to ISO 26623, utilize standard components, and are designed to maximize tool life in carbide and ceramic turning applications.n

The thick CrAlN coating provides high hardness and oxidation resistance solving issues related to machining materials such as: 304SS, 17-4PH, and Nitinol. High speed machining applications with ST4 inserts have proven results with stable machining, excellent surface finishes, and extended tool life.

CeramiX HX5 Grade succeeds in matching the performance characteristics of CBN with the added benefit of being a less expensive product compared to CBN. A special TiAlN coating offers excellent wear resistance for hard turning applications.

Tungaloy America Inc. demonstrates the hard turning capabilities of its T-CBN, AH8000 and LX11 insert grades in a two-minute video that runs through a series of turning operations. The video also provides recommendations for which insert grades to use for continuous, light interrupted and heavy interrupted turning applications.
