OPEN MIND Technologies AG has introduced hyperMILL 2019.2, a new version of its advanced, comprehensive CAD/CAM software suite. The latest hyperMILL software has a range of new features including high-precision 3D finishing, 5-axis tangent machining, high-performance turning and new CAD-for-CAM technologies.n

Tungaloy enhances its ISO positive turning inserts in "-01" geometry to include a 0.4 mm (0.0157") nose radius prepared in a minus tolerance specifically for precision finishing in Swiss turning applications. The new -01 geometry is designed to deliver consistent chip control at extremely light cutting depths of 0.5 mm (0.020") or smaller.

Tungaloy is expanding its DuoJust-Cut, TetraMini-Cut and TetraForce-Cut lines of indexable grooving and parting tools to enhance their flexibility and application ranges. Tungaloy's DuoJust-Cut, TetraMini-Cut and TetraForce-Cut are successful lines of grooving and parting tool series that feature an innovative insert clamping interface for secure mounting during challenging operations.

Tungaloy is expanding its T9200 CVD grade insert series to include T9205 and T9235 grades as well as the -TSF and -TM style chipbreakers to conquer steel turning markets. Both T9205 and T9235 are designed to provide outstanding wear resistance in the P05 and P35 application ranges surpassing existing CVD grades.

Walter has introduced the MC319/MC320 Advance Line of solid-carbide milling cutters that have been specially engineered for roughing. The Advance lineup is one of the three categories to Walter milling tools.

New additions to JETI (Jetstream Integrated) tooling from Seco Tools eliminate coolant-through tooling and connector interference that hinders grooving, parting-off and other turning operations. With interference-free internal coolant capabilities and the option to switch the underside stream channel on and off as required, these expansions to the range of MDT (Multiple-Directional Turning) X4 (grooving and parting-off) and 150.10 (parting-off) toolholders add operational stability and reliability while they improve surface finishes.

In connection with the Ceratizit Open Days 2019 press event May 13-15, I visited several of the cutting tool manufacturer's German facilities (in Stuttgart, Balzheim and Kempten), as well as Ceratizit Reutte in Breitenwang, Austria. The Luxembourg-based Ceratizit Group has combined its Ceratizit, Komet, WNT and Klenk brands under the name Team Cutting Tools.

Walter has introduced new PCBN grades for improved turning of hardened steel up to 65 HRC. These grades (WBH10C, WBH10 and WBH20) provide users with an array of benefits. High-quality surface finish due to unique new wiper geometry (MW2) and long tool life with the new TiAlSiN-coated grade (WBH10C) are just some of these benefits.

Carmex Precision Tools Ltd. has introduced new diamond turning inserts designed to enable customers to achieve higher productivity and greater efficiency in machining hard materials faster and more effectively than grinding or ceramics. The PCD inserts excel in the machining of nonferrous materials, including high-silicon aluminum, copper and brass alloys, magnesium, carbon fiber reinforced plastics, and composites.

Tungaloy adds a line of positive style inserts to its BX480 insert series, a well-proven T-CBN grade for efficient turning of sintered powder metals and cast iron.

Tungaloy is expanding its Turning-A series of OD turning holders to include short length holders.
