Tungaloy enhances usefulness of TungModularSystem, a modular-style grooving and parting tool system with through-coolant feature.

Make deep-hole operations productive and reduce the risk of scrapping large, expensive workpieces with the new GL threading and grooving heads for Steadyline ø1" (25 mm)-diameter turning and boring bars from Seco Tools. The new heads extend the range of GL Heads and Steadyline bars, increase production accuracy, improve surface finishes and reduce downtime from insert indexing and head changing.

Beckhoff Automation has announced a new machine learning (ML) solution that is seamlessly integrated into TwinCAT 3 software. Building on established standards, TwinCAT 3 Machine Learning offers ML applications the same advantages of system openness familiar from PC-based control technology.

Tungaloy adds a substantial number of new geometries and shapes to its BXA20 line, a successful grade of coated T-CBN inserts, designed to deliver efficient solutions to hard turning operations.

Walter has added two new cast iron insert grades to its Perform Line family of turning tools, the WKV10 and WKV20. These new negative geometry grades are versatile, cost-effective inserts and are ideal for those who machine small or medium batch sizes. These new grades in the Perform Line supplement corresponding grades for steels that were introduced last year.

Benz Inc. has completely revised its broaching unit Benz LinA. With its new, compact design, the new Benz LinA 4.0 is lighter and much more rigid, yet capable of up to 1,500 strokes per minute. Easily fine-tuned and with a standard gear ratio of 2-1, this unit can power through many more materials with minimal or no vibration, greatly improving the service life of the cutter.

So far, geometries such as the bore holes of injection valves in the automotive industry, for example, could hardly be measured optically. Lateral probing of components with vertical surfaces was limited to tactile measuring systems, CT solutions or complex special solutions. This changes with a new function of the optical coordinate measuring system µCMM from Bruker Alicona. Vertical surfaces of more than 90° can now also be measured optically.

With an advanced solution that enables manufacturing companies to take steps towards digital machining and Industry 4.0, Sandvik Coromant has introduced connectivity capability to its series of Silent Tools toolholders. The innovation is offered as part of the company's CoroPlus suite of connected solutions for machine shops keen to embrace the rapidly advancing trend of industry digitization.

HEULE's BSF tool is for automated high-volume back spot facing applications. The BSF tool, suitable for counterbores up to 2.3 times diameter and ranging in size from 6.5mm to 20.5mm (0.256" to 0.807"), is sold standard-stock, shipped the next day from the Cincinnati warehouse.

Special shaft collars and couplings that can be machined from wide range of materials to meet strict OEM design requirements are being introduced by Stafford Manufacturing Corp.

Investments in conventional deep-hole drilling machines can be very expensive. SOMEX, a member of the Suhner Group, offers custom deep-hole drilling solutions capable of drilling up to 12mm diameters and as deep as 100 times the diameter. These modules can be integrated directly into transfer machines, special-purpose machines or conventional machines such turning machines. The potential for cost savings is substantial.
