Seco Tools has expanded its Steadyline vibration-damping tooling system to include large-diameter turning/boring bars that provide a reliable, plug-and-play solution for increased productivity in large and deep bore operations.

A saw and track system for accurately cutting pressure vessels up to 60" in diameter in preparation for hydrostatic testing and complete fabrication is being introduced by Esco Tool. The Esco APS-438 Air Powered Saw and WrapTrack trolley lets operators rapidly cold cut vessels from 6" to 60" in diameter with ±1/16" accuracy to permit better bevels for subsequent welding.

Designed for internal threading and grooving applications, the new Carmex Modular Line (ML) uses a single boring bar that can be fitted with multiple adapters, offering high accuracy, easy adjustment and full repeatability. Coated with abrasive-resistant nickel, the ML adapters can be used with all Carmex standard thread turning inserts sizes 16, 22 and 27 mm.

With the new Seco Feedmax –P drill, manufacturers gain the potential to significantly boost holemaking performance for ISO P (steel), as well as cast iron, workpiece materials. The solid-carbide Feedmax –P drills can increase drilling productivity by up to 35 percent while also providing longer tool life due to the combination of the drill's new geometry and advanced coating.

Walter has unveiled the Walter Cut G1221-P, an innovative grooving boring bar with precision cooling, for recessing and internal grooving. This monoblock boring bar has two coolant holes.

July U.S. cutting tool consumption totaled $170.95 million according to the U.S. Cutting Tool Institute (USCTI) and AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. This total, as reported by companies participating in the Cutting Tool Market Report (CTMR) collaboration, was down 8.4% from June's $186.57 million and up 16.0% when compared with the total of $147.43 million reported for July 2016.

Walter has introduced three new Walter Cut GX Tiger·tec Silver CVD grooving and parting grades—the WKP13S, WKP23S and WKP33S—for use on steel and cast-iron applications. These have been introduced in combination with Walter's geometries UD4, UA4, UF4, RD4 along with plunge grooving and parting geometries GD3 and CE4.
