When a large new vessel is put to sea, it usually is equipped with a tunnel thruster (or bow thruster), which acts as a side propeller system to allow for additional maneuverability of the ship at berth and on open sea.

Controx milling cutters are suitable for the grooving of rotary vane and turbo pump rotors and other rotors requiring precision depth and width control. Slot widths of up to 5/8" and depths to 3" are possible with or without contour in the slot base.

Allied Machine & Engineering announces the expansion of its AccuPort 432/AccuThread 856 program to include more than 120 kits for manufacturing hydraulic ports and manifolds. The kits are available to meet SAE J1926; ISO I6149; John Deere G1731; and SAE AS5202 (aerospace standard/Mil-Spec) specifications.

Seco Tools line of 150.10‑JETI family of parting-off blades and square-shank blocks now includes a new VDI block design. Adapters directly hold the 150.10-JETI parting-off blades onto the VDI turret and offer streamlined delivery of high-pressure coolant to the cutting zone without the use of hoses.

Arno Werkzeuge USA has expanded its Swiss-style program of cutting tools, holders, inserts and through-coolant systems for Swiss CNC auto lathes. Applications for Swiss auto lathes are known for their unique machining requirements for extremely long, thin, small parts with great precision and accuracy and, therefore, require very specific tooling.
