The comprehensive line of ALU/NF CUT carbide burs from PFERD reportedly brings new levels of machining performance particularly to aluminum applications. Aluminum has grown increasingly popular in industry because of its special properties, such as extreme durability, low weight, exceptional corrosion resistance and uncomplicated recycling. Processing the many different aluminum alloys, however, can be complex.

KORLOY has launched new chipbreakers " MM " (Medium Machining) and " RM " (Rough Machining) for stainless steel materials. Stainless steel can be classified into three groups: austenite, martensite and ferrite. In principle, the surface of stainless steel materials generally tends to be very smooth and coupled with a very strong corrosion resistance.

Controx-Neuhauser introduces its Decoring Cut tool, which both drills through honeycomb composite panels and undercuts the skins (thus removing the cores) in a single labor-saving step. Tungaloy Corp. added threading inserts with sharp cutting edges to its TetraMini-Cut insert series, which allows undercutting and finishing of a flange wall. Complemented by the new PVD grade, SH725, TetraMini-Cut's new threading insert features sharp cutting edges, making it suitable for cutting fine pitch threads at a high cutting speed.

Tungaloy Corp. has expanded the TungTurn-Jet line, the turning tool system with high-pressure coolant capability. Until now, coolant was simply applied by flooding the cutting area, which can cause chips generated during machining to interfere with the coolant flow, preventing it from reaching the exact spot where needed.

Tungaloy Corp. further expands its indexable-insert gundrill line, DeepTriDrill, with options down to a diameter range of 14-15.9 mm. Deep-hole drilling is a challenging operation and often creates a bottleneck in holemaking shops around the globe.

The ActiveEdge Nexus from Rigibore includes coarse-adjustment and fine-setting capabilities, in addition to automatic cutting edge compensation in the machine tool. This design is a self-contained module added to flanges.

On Nov. 3, 2016, Greenleaf Corp. officially launched its phase-toughened ceramic insert grade XSYTIN-1 with a press event at the toolmaker's global headquarters in Saegertown, Pa.

Tool-Flo is now offering solid-carbide thread mills with helical flutes and through coolant. The company offers a wide array of thread forms including 60° V-threads, BSPT, ISO, MJ, NPSF, NPT, NPTF, UN and Whitworth threads.
