To help promote the 50th anniversary of the EMO trade show, which takes place Sept. 22–26 in Hanover, Germany, show organizer VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association) held the EMO 2025 Preview July 10–11 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Trade journalists from 28 countries attended the event, which featured 90-second "elevator pitches" from 26 EMO exhibitors, an interview with VDW Executive Director Dr. Markus Heering, a panel discussion about artificial intelligence, and a presentation by Jayson Myers, CEO of NGen (Next Generation Manufacturing Canada) in Hamilton, Ontario, about Alliance Country Canada @EMO2025 during the first day.

Accurate Metal Products (AMP), a steel processor and fabricator, has installed two AI-powered EasyGrinder robotic systems from Dutch manufacturer Teqram. AMP says this installation is the first of its kind in the United States.

The Partner Companies (TPC), a U.S.-based advanced manufacturing company, has acquired Precision Eforming.

Reversible hard jaws from Dillon Manufacturing are suitable for ID and OD workholding. The company says they accurately grip and locate workpieces while significantly reducing setup times. Designed to hold a specific range of part sizes, they are suited for first operation workholding, the company says. They fit all brands of chucks, including serrated, Acme Key, square key, and tongue-and-groove styles. Single or two-step jaws feature diamond-shaped serrations to provide secure gripping and accurate parts locating.

The patented EasyFlipper from Teqram turns sheet-metal parts within seconds without the need to use a crane and slings, belts or clamps to turn heavy workpieces. This is a less dangerous alternative, the company said, and helps keep the part from being scratched during material handling.

To help visiting sales representatives, agents, and members of the trade press learn more about its lines of precision machine tool accessories, Platinum Tooling Inc. has created a showroom at its distribution facility in Prospect Heights, Illinois.

3D printing allows for rapid prototyping and testing of new designs, but while this ease of creation is great, plastic can pose issues when fastening together parts as 3D plastic printed threads are not generally robust enough to handle repeated use. Threaded metal inserts designed for plastic allow for strong, reusable metal threads to be put into 3D printed parts. These inserts can be installed in several different ways, ranging from press-in installation to heat-staking with a soldering iron. E-Z Press and E-Z Fin inserts from E-Z-Lok are suited for press-in installation applications, and the company's E-Z Sonic is suitable for heat staking.
