SPRING Technologies announces the launch of its CAM WorkPackages, a set of interfaces between commercially available CAM solutions and NCSIMUL 4CAM (formerly NCSIMUL CAM). WorkPackages are provided for for CATIA (Dassault Systèmes), NX (Siemens), CREO (PTC), TopSolid'Cam (MISSLER) and Mastercam (CNC Software Inc.). Ultimately, SPRING Technologies plans to offer its users direct interfaces with all the leading CAM products on the market.

Iscar video depicts chip forming
The cutting edges of cutting tools don't actually produce chips. Instead, the pressure of a rapidly spinning tool on a workpiece plasticizes part of the parent material, creating a shearing effect that forces the material to ride up the tool. The flute and tool geometries form the chip and force it away from the tool body until it breaks off and evacuates. Iscar Metals Inc. produced a video depicting this process.
