PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts

Seco Tools LLC offers PCD05- and PCD20-grade PCD-tipped milling inserts for its Turbo 10 cutter bodies. The inserts are suitable for cutting aluminum, titanium, polymers and fiber-reinforced composites. When used with carbide inserts, the PCD-tipped inserts act as wiper inserts in fixed pockets. The two grades come in the company's X010 insert size with a corner radius of 0.016" (0.4mm) and a wiper length of 0.43" (1.08mm).

XSYTIN-1 ceramic insert

Greenleaf Corp.'s XSYTIN-1 is a phase-toughened ceramic insert grade that resists wear and thermal shock. It is for milling, turning and grooving heat-resistant superalloys, cast iron, nodular iron, ductile iron, steel and stainless steel at extreme feed rates and high cutting speeds, according to the company. It is suitable for interrupted cuts, scale removal, roughing, semifinishing and finishing.

Seco, Troy, Mich., recently expanded the roughing and semi-finishing performance capabilities of its Secomax CS100 sialon ceramic grade inserts by adding inserts with T-style edge preparation to the line, according to a company news release. New Steel Cut Burs from PFERD Inc., Milwaukee, Wis., reportedly provide up to 50 percent higher stock removal rates for applications on steel and cast steel compared to conventional burs with double cut, according to the company. TH1000 and TH1500 Turning Insert Grades
