To help manufacturers enjoy benefits such as reduced cycle times and greater tool life when performing hard part turning, Sandvik Coromant has strengthened its existing offer in the ISO H05 to H15 application area with the introduction of two new grades: CB7105 and CB7115. The grades will be of particular benefit to those machining transmission components for the automotive industry, where lower cost per part can be achieved.

The RM5 stainless steel roughing geometry from Walter USA LLC features guided twin-channel coolant targeted at the chip. This provides maximum cooling and enhanced tool life for machining ISO M stainless steels and ISO S high-temperature alloys, according to the company.

Tungaloy Corp. is launching the BXA20 series, a new coated PCBN grade for machining hardened steel. BXA20 delivers predictable and long tool life in a range of applications from roughing to finishing, including descaling of case hardened steel, which usually requires a large stock to be removed.

Sumitomo's new BNC2000 series CBN grades perform with exceptional accuracy and productivity. The BNC2010 grade is designed for high precision hard turning.

Seco's new TK1501 and TK0501 insert grades incorporate the latest developments in next-generation Duratomic coating technology. The new dedicated cast iron turning grades reach a new level of toughness and wearnresistance, as well as reduce tool waste and process more parts per edge.

Allied Machine & Engineering highlights the availability of its PCD T-A Drill inserts, designed for drilling in carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), used in lightweight aircraft wings and fuselages, and other highly abrasive substances. The PCD inserts improve tool life and value over competing products, according to the company.

Walter says its double-sided ISO indexable inserts with RP7 geometry provide maximum process reliability in rough turning by combining a ground contact surface with an optimized profile that has a tailored protective chamfer to guard against fracturing. The RP7 benefits from a new design that features a specially designed T-land for protection against chipping, aground seating surface, center curve design for extra cutting edge strength and a deeper chip groove that enables higher feed rates.

Machine shops faced with identifying ways of achieving secure machining with long and predictable insert life in steel milling operations can turn to GC1130, an insert made with the Zertivo, a unique production technology from Sandvik Coromant. GC1130 helps to overcome challenging machining conditions with a clean and intact edge, delivering high metal-removal rates and performance levels in both wet and dry machining operations.

Tungaloy Corp. announced an expansion of the AH8000 series for heat-resistant alloy turning. This expansion adds a new positive insert line to the product family.

The WDN10 from Walter, a high-performance and wear-resistant polycrystalline diamond (PCD) insert delivers outstanding hardness, a low coefficient of friction and minimum heat distortion. This helps result in maximum productivity and cost efficiency in the high-speed machining of nonferrous materials.

Walter has introduced the Tiger·tec Silver grade WSM45X, creating an indexable inserts with high-temperature resistance, improved wear resistance, outstanding toughness, and exceptional hardness. These key features of inserts in the new Tiger·tec Silver grade WSM45X can boost performance by up to 67 percent over comparable tools, according to the company.
