Walter has added to its range of solid-carbide milling cutters with the introduction of its MC232 Perform product line. This versatile, cost-effective new cutter type is available with 2, 3 or 4 flutes, in a diameter range of 1/8 in. to 5/8 in. (2 to 20 mm).

New from Sumitomo Electric Carbide Inc. is the TSX series tangential milling cutter that is designed for exceptionally efficient shoulder milling. For stable, highly efficient machining at high feed rates, the TSX series is engineered with a tough and sharp cutting edge, according to the company. It provides the strength required for increased depths of cut ranging from a small job to a heavy-duty roughing application.

Fast and reliable milling of stainless steel, titanium, heat-resistant alloys or even CrC alloys is a huge challenge for many machine operators and tool manufacturers. To overcome the challenge, the Swiss cutting tool manufacturer Mikron Tool launched CrazyMill Cool, a product family that promises a valuable solution in a diameter range from 0.3 mm (0.012") to 8 mm (0.315"). Engineered for use with the standard CMT toolholder (S35 type), Carmex's new high-performance milling head uses multiple indexable inserts for threading, grooving, chamfering and facing. With a cutting diameter of 41mm, a thread pitch of up to 4mm and a groove depth to 9mm, CMT accepts four triple-edged round profile inserts for high precision and enhanced performance.

Kyocera's new Vulcan compression endmills are for routing composites. The Vulcan compression endmill is designed with up-cut and down-cut flutes to compress the composite material, preventing delamination.

A pipe milling end prep tool for beveling water wall boiler tubes at biomass processing facilities in preparation for precision welding repairs is being introduced by Esco Tool. The Esco Wart MILLHOG is a boiler tube beveling machine that features a rigid ID clamping system and uses TiN-coated cutter blades to machine carbon steel or highly alloyed tubes without cutting fluids.
